The Competition

Washington - Not likely to face Minnesota in the playoffs unless they both make it to the NFC Championship game. It would be nice to see Brad Johnson take this team deep into the playoffs, but realistically they aren't likely to get past Tampa Bay. The Redskins are similar to Minnesota in that they have a very good offense and a suspect defense. They should handle Detroit, but will probably not be able to handle Tampa Bay's defense on the road.

Tampa Bay - A stellar defensive club, they have enough talent on offense to make a serious run at the Super Bowl. They face a tough challenge though, because the Redskins should put up a good fight, then they'll either host Minnesota or travel to St.Louis.

St.Louis - The favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, but they've shown they can be beat by quality teams. Could very easily get knocked off by Tampa Bay or a playoff experienced Viking squad.

Detroit - Too many injuries and no running game. The Lions will not be a factor in the playoffs this year.

Dallas - The only other NFC team besides Minnesota that was in the playoffs last year. The Cowboys are still capable of putting up a good fight, but they just aren't the same team they used to be. If they were playing at home they might have had a shot, but they will go down quietly against Minnesota at the Metrodome.

AFC: Jacksonville, Tennesee, and Indianapolis are the favorites. The Jaguars are the only ones from that group with playoff experience, so I give them the edge to make it to the Super Bowl IF their injured QB Mark Brunell is able to play effectively.
